Louisian Saint-Fleurant 30 x 30.  “Dancers”. Festive dancing figures appear to join with a mysterious rabbit and birds. Animals and children represent stories told during traditional celebrations and ceremonies. Louisianne Saint Fleurant was born in 1924 and was one of the founders of the Saint Soleil artist’s movement, and she was also a founder of the Cinq Soleil school. Her paintings are maternal in nature, and often depict children. Some of her own children are also artists. She died in 2005.
